Disneyland show, summer fireworks return Friday

Disneyland’s water-and-light show and the summer fireworks display are set to return to the park for the Memorial Day weekend, two weeks before the official season begins.
The Fantasmic! show, which appears on the Rivers of America, is set to come back Friday after a nearly five-month absence.
The water-and-light spectacle took a break while the waterway was emptied for an upgrade project, beginning in January. Fantasmic! last appeared Jan. 3 at the end of the holiday season.
Maleficent, the 45-foot, robotic dragon, is expected to return as part of the show, as well. Through the summer, Fantasmic! will appear most nights at 9 and 10:30 p.m., said John McClintock, a Disneyland Resort spokesman.
On Friday, Disneyland also is reviving its summer fireworks show, called Magical, for the second year. Another fireworks show, called Remember … Dreams Come True, ended Sunday for the season.
Magical is scheduled for most nights at 9:25 p.m. through Labor Day weekend.
Disneyland’s official promotion period, called Summer Nightastic, begins June 11 with other features, including the new World of Color show for regular visitors to Disney’s California Adventure. Special previews for the media, contest winners and celebrities are scheduled before World Of Color’s official debut.
